Outdoor Living - Pergola & Deck
Pierce Township, Cincinnati OH
The homeowner wanted to create an outdoor environment, which would compliment the existing structures, landscaping and provide shaded gathering space. Using the existing footprint of the original deck modifications were made to accommodate the addition of the pergola, an area for a grill and the stone fireplace.
Deck skirting was placed in the horizontal position to help ground the deck and pergola. Hidden fasteners were used for the 4" wide pressure-treated skirting to eliminate the familiar nail pattern. Without the nail pattern, the horizontal lines of the skirt are more predominate.
The use of different colored composite decking adds a design element to what is usually a large non-descript area of a deck.
The deck has become a piece of architectural sculpture with clean lines, dramatic angles and contrasting materials.
